Sexual Risk Avoidance Education/Abstinence Program
With this program, our goal is to reduce the rates of pregnancy and births and decrease the incidence of sexually transmitted diseases/infections in youth and teens ages 10-19. Using the "Choosing the Best" curriculum, Christy's Safe Haven educates young people about the risks associated with pre-marital sex. If youth have access to the right information, they can become empowered by their own ability to make healthy choices. Reference the curriculum tab on the home page for more information about the “Choosing the Best” curriculum. Education will be arranged based on the needs of the youth in your family or at the organization you represent.
Mentoring &/or Counseling
Youth will receive guidance in resolving personal, social, or psychological issues as needed and assisted with identifying coping skills. Christy’s Safe Haven has partnered with Licensed Social Workers, Counselors, and other experienced Professionals who will provide this service to youth enrolled in the Program. This service will be provided to youth based on the availability of Counselors/Mentors. If a Counselor/Mentor is not available, youth will be referred to another organization that provides similar services.
Adolescent Substance Use/Abuse Prevention
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we are constantly striving to find creative strategies for dealing with this challenge. Christy's Safe Haven educates young people on the prevalence of substance use/abuse in the community, the availability of treatment, the risks associated with substance use/abuse, and other related topics. This is something that we take very seriously, and we are working diligently to make a positive impact. Service-Learning will be offered every other month for 1-hour and as needed.
Education on Appropriate Social Interactions
Christy's Safe Haven educates young people on the occurrences of bullying (physical, verbal, social, and cyber) in the community and detrimental effects. This is something that we take very seriously and we are working diligently to make a positive impact. Service Learning is offered on a regular basis. Students also have the opportunity to participate in No One Eats Alone (NOEA) Day if desired by district Administrators.
Community Resource Referrals
With this initiative, our goal is to promote great opportunities for those in need. With access to the right resources, people can become empowered by their own abilities and gain the confidence to fulfill their potential. Learn more about our work by getting in touch with our team today.
Assessment
With our organization’s mission always in mind, we strive to find new strategies to serve youth; therefore, evaluating their needs is key when identifying services and supports. Christy’s Safe Haven has partnered with Licensed Social Workers, Counselors, and other Mental Health Professionals and can conduct Psychosocial, Vocational, and Functional Behavior Assessments as needed.
Behavioral Intervention
